Presenting classic rare standards, contemporary jazz, Latin – Brazilian, Middle-Eastern l Gypsy – Roma / Flamenco, originals, plus bebop masters’ compositions, Ellington / Strayhorn, blues and free improvisation. Featuring Larry Vuckovich in both solo piano and trio format performing on the Fazioli piano concert grand. Hello jazz friends,
I’m bringing in my 75th year in a swinging – exotic musical style. I’ll be playing on Saturday Dec. 10th at the very nice piano showroom: The Piedmont Piano Co. @ 18th/ San Pablo in Oakland. The Fazioli concert grand is a superb instrument projecting richness and beauty of sound. It’s the same piano used on my latest CD Somethin’ Special.
The trio cats: Buca Necak and Vince Delgado are perfectly suited for the varied material of jazz and world music that we will present on this special evening. The program will include, as always, swinging jazz, bebop/post-bop, and selections of beautiful Latin American and Cuban boleros, salsa grooves plus Middle Eastern – Eastern European tunes, as well as a bit of tango jazz. Buca has performed with Chet Baker, Anita O’Day, Clark Terry, and many others. Vince has worked with musicians as diverse as Vince Guaraldi, and the classic Eastern musicians Zakir Hussain and Ali Akbar Khan.
